About Me

Got my first guitar when it was won by my parents at a bingo game at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto in 1959.In 1963 I saved enough money to buy a Gibson J45 which I still have today.Back then it was $375 with case.70 years old and it has been with me everywhere.Sang in a folk group in Montreal in the 60's.Life,children,family got in the way of improving my guitar skills and always wanted to progress beyond being a strummer.I was the guy around camp fires and family events that got out the guitar to sing popular kids songs, folk songs, some rock songs but wanted to learn more. Now I have the time I find my arthritic fingers giving me a challenge but working on flat picking, finger picking helps.Inspirations have been Gordon Lightfoot,James Taylor and a host of other old and new who know how to get the most out of their acoustics.

I also have a McKenzie and Marr cutaway Tofino.Canadian company-amazing product ;(https://www.macmarr.com/

Dabbled a while with a Telecaster and an Epiphone Dot but find I am playing more Acoustic.Looking to buy another acoustic and looking at the McKenzie and Marr Opeongo (https://www.macmarr.com/store/opeongo)Takamine EF341SC and Cole Clark Angel 2-think my budget will fit the Opeongo and want a smaller body parlor guitar. Joined this group to get into a more regulated practice routine and to refine my skills.Enjoying the journey so far.
